Werder Bremen sporting director Clemens Fritz has addressed rumors regarding the future of Victor Boniface, confirming in an interview with Bild that the club is not considering an early termination of his loan agreement. The Nigerian striker joined Bremen from Bayer Leverkusen this past summer on a deal set to expire at the end of the current season.
Currently sidelined with an injury, Boniface's status has sparked speculation about a potential return to Leverkusen ahead of schedule. However, Fritz dismissed these suggestions, stating that neither the player nor his parent club has expressed a desire to cut the loan short. "Terminating the loan early is not an option, even for Boniface himself," Fritz remarked, emphasizing that the focus remains on his recovery.
The club is currently in close communication with medical experts and Bayer Leverkusen’s doctors to determine the best rehabilitation path for the forward. Fritz urged for "calm," allowing the player time to rest before finalizing the next steps of his treatment. For now, Bremen remains committed to the original agreement, prioritizing Boniface's return to full health so he can contribute to the team’s campaign in the second half of the season.
