Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has been awarded the prestigious Raymond Goethals Award for 2025, which recognizes the Belgian Coach of the Year. Kompany’s father, Pierre Kompany, attended the ceremony to accept the accolade on his son’s behalf.
Kompany issued a heartfelt statement regarding the honor: “This is an extraordinary honor for me. This award means the world to me. Especially when I see the other names on the list of winners and look back at the glorious history of this prize.”
He paid tribute to the award's namesake, who passed away last year. Raymond Goethals is revered for having led Marseille to the 1993 Champions League title. Kompany added that Goethals was “not only an example for all Belgian coaches, but also for coaches in other countries.”
The recognition marks a significant moment in Kompany's coaching career, placing him among the elite managers in Belgian football history.
